This article I wrote on the Omaha Zoo’s conservation efforts was published in last Thursday’s issue of The Reader. It was part of their “sustainability guide”, to coincide with Earth Day.
I couldn’t fit the first page on the scanner, so you can read the whole article online here, but I still wanted to post a visual reference. Also, I took the tiger photo and the photo on the third page of the article. Mai is pretty adorable, isn’t she? And she gets around very well on three legs.
Here’s an article I have in this week’s Reader, on the Champaign, Illinois band Headlights.
I’m in Columbus, Nebraska at the moment, writing from a Sleep Inn. I’m here for a film/video competition that two of my students are competing in, and it’s been going really well. The only downside is that I have to miss the Honeybee/Evangelicals/Headlights and Jens Lekman shows tonight. The upside is that I’ve had two A&W root beer floats from here, and they were really good.
Below is a photo from the Darren Kean show on Wednesday night.

This was in the same issue of The Reader. I’m happy to see Thunder Power!!! mentioned as, “one of the more sophisticated and exciting bands to come out of Omaha.” Yeah!
I’ll be at this show tomorrow.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m directing a music video for them. I’m in the editing stage and should be done in a few weeks. They just got out of recording at ARC, Mike Mogis’ recording studio here in Omaha and the stuff I’ve heard sounds great. I can’t wait for the album release.
The Reader, an Omaha weekly, published an article I wrote on parkour in Omaha (see scanned images below…notice the top left of the cover).
You can click on the photos to get a closer look (and actually read the article).
Or you can read it online here.
I’m working on my next one for the paper now…
