I love shoes. When I was in Utah in January, I came across a great local shoe company called Zuriick, based out of Salt Lake City. I now own the two pairs below (defensive note: one at a major discount). They have a cool, new website and some newly designed shoes, all of them pretty sweet. I suppose it’s a blessing in disguise that they don’t make a women’s version of the Shug series…

It’s been awhile…sorry about my absenteeism. New jobs + the end of summer = major schedule change and exhaustion. I have been planning to write about The Breeders show, now that was awhile ago. But so, so good. There’s something about that band that really gets me live, I think with the added nostalgia factor the chemicals align and I feel so happy that they’re in front of me playing songs that I played over and over in high school (and beyond).

Their set list was amazing! It was as if they asked me what I wanted to hear before the show and then came out and played those songs. Ones that I specifically remember being excited about are: Hoverin (opened with this, which is actually an Amps song but I loved that album too), Tipp City (Amps), No Aloha, Iris, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Divine Hammer, Driving on 9, Cannonball, Saints, Do You Love Me Now, and Flipside.

My inaugural tasting of BK’s burger shots occurred late last night.

Verdict: Cute but not tasty. Also, they are siamese twins!

It’s a perfect specimen. I just ate it and it was delicious. It rained last night and now there are already two more ripe ones.

Here is the first print I made, it’s from a woodcut.

I really just wanted to draw attention to my very first wood carving/engraving blister. Pretty sweet, right?

So I’m taking a printmaking class and it’s really awesome.

I’m currently working on a drypoint print. Yesterday I went into the shop area and put my arms (and lower back) to good use beveling the plexiglass. I regret having such an ironic attitude towards shop class in middle school, because I’m pretty positive I would sincerely love it now.

Here are my Japanese wood engraving tools. I was so excited when they arrived.

I can even prop them up in their case and put little stickers with my name on it on them. Wonderful.

I got kind of obsessed taking photos of our family’s (and a few from others on the lake) amazing fireworks display this year.

Some people might think, “How many pictures of fireworks can you take or look at without it being boring?” My answer: I don’t know because I haven’t gotten there yet.

To me, there’s something beautiful and captivating about each image. Maybe it’s my fascination with space, or the concept that with a click fire is frozen in the sky or just the aesthetic beauty of such bright lights against the dark night.
